You are performing a version of yourself that runs on grades, approval, and the constant evaluation of whether you are enough. The anxiety you feel before every assignment is not about the assignment. It is about what you believe the assignment says about you as a person. And that belief was installed long before you got to college, in a family where your value tracked what you produced rather than who you were. College did not create this pattern. College activated it.
I do not teach coping skills or assign breathing exercises. I work with the pattern underneath: the way you have organized your identity around performance, and what has been sacrificed in the process. The counseling center addresses the surface. This addresses the structure.
